That’s Joel Bettridge on the left. Peter O’Leary took the picture at Woodland Pattern Book Center in Milwaukee, hands down the most pleasant & thorough poetry establishment I’ve ever seen. Our readings went better than we could’ve hoped: attendees were interested in not only our work but getting us caught up on theirs as well. In the course of the weekend, we had the opportunity to make new friends & catch up with some old ones. Thanks to: everyone who came out to see us; Anne, Karl, & Chuck for far more grace & attention than we’re accustomed to; Jennifer & Lisa for a delightful time in Chicago; & even though he read with us, Peter for inimitable hosting & support.
Here’s the story from Jennifer Karmin, superhelper & co-leader of the Red Rover Series:
Red Rover Series – Experiment #15
Red Rover Series {readings that play with reading} will hold its fifteenth reading on August 20th. Founded in 2005, each Red Rover event is designed as a reading experiment with participation by local, national, and international writers, artists, and performers. Experiment #15 “Devotion to the Word” features readings by three poets: Zach Barocas (Minneapolis, MN), Joel Bettridge (Portland, OR) and Lisa Janssen (Chicago, IL). In addition, Barocas and Janssen will both discuss the publications they edit — The Cultural Society and MoonLit.

My short video, Mute Duet, is now playing at FILTR.TV, a new video digest of unusally high curatorial & ethical standards. These guys are terrific & I’m proud to have my work available there. Sign-up is a non-binding breeze. Have a look.
